This has just gone too far - I mean, I like the series... and yes no one but us old timers remembers it. But why murder another memory. Let it rest.
Doop! little buddy!

Details are a bit sparse - but here's the synopsis...
After nearly a decade-long absence from features, Carpenter is finally back behind the lens: The horror icon recently wrapped The Ward, currently slated for release this September, which follows an institutionalized young woman (Amber Heard) who is being haunted by a ghost.
I could use a good horror film, hope this works out.

This via Osh, and yep.... there's been some pretty ugly movies made. You can lose a little bit of boredom time checking out this list of disasters.
- by RobLink: http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2010/01/harry-potter-hallows-3d-clash-of-the-titans-3d.html
It's about freakin time! - finally Harry Potter goes Imax 3d for the entire film and not like the last one - just one scene.
Studio executives on lots around town have been scrutinizing film slates for opportunities to expand forays into 3D releasing. Warners has been testing footage from its upcoming "Clash of the Titans" -- converted into 3D by an outside vendor -- and the tests have gone so well that execs have decided to release not only "Titans" but also the two-part "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" in 3D.
Warners refused to confirm the decisions Tuesday, but an announcement on "Titans" -- a co-production with Legendary Pictures -- is expected by week's end. Official word on the "Potter" pics also is awaited.
And Clash of the Titans ? Holy crap - I'm in 3D heaven.

Just a heads up to Geeks - don't waste your money... this is maybe a campy Netflix rental at best. I've seen countless reviews from Geeks I trust and the results are a resounding "don't watch"
I don't even think Bruce Campbell could make this better.

Right , the prequel - to perhaps the greatest geek movie of all time has not YET cast Bilbo - but they are reportedly within a month.
Some other great news...
we’ll see Ian McKellan as Gandalf and Hugo Weaving as Elrond again
Damn tootin, it's gonna happen!

Holy awesome - I watched this and was amazed! - Very well done!
Orcs are back... for all you lucky LOTR fans, today the next unofficial chapter is released, by our friends, Actors at Work Productions. You can see it online at www.bornofhope.com ! We're delighted that director Kate, who helped us a lot with THFG has finally finished her epic 70 minute, all-new LOTR prequel.
It tells the story of Aragorn's parents and so it's set around 75 years before The Hunt For Gollum in the Middle-earth timeline and is packed with even more Orcs, Rangers battles. A truly spectacular acheivement.
And if you want to download it (as I surely did) you can use THIS

It's looking more and more likely that these films will be in theaters in 3D. I dunno about Star Wars, but I'd definitely pony up some cash to see LOTR in 3D akin to Avatar.
“We can turn an older film into 3-D in around 16 weeks,” Bobby Jaffe, chairman of San Diego’s Legend Films, told the paper. “It mostly suits action films, such as Top Gun or The Matrix, but Avatar proved it’s best to use the technology to immerse the audience in the story rather than throw things at them. This is the new, more sophisticated era of 3-D.”
The process of converting 2-D films to 3-D, used recently with portions of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for its Imax release, is becoming increasingly popular as studios look for relatively inexpensive ways to boost revenue. The Times quoted an associate of George Lucas, saying the Star Wars director will spend $10 million to update his 1977 movie into 3-D.

I would agree with most of these - except Transformers... (at least the first one) I really liked that movie and I don't care what anyone else thinks.

Probably all you could want to know about Avatar and the history of the director involved. If you're sitting on the fence wondering if you should see the flick, this should help.
Course for me, a film just being in 3D is almost enough excuse to spend the cash for it. - Though, that's changing as more and more films go to the new 3D.
I did see the 3D Christmas Carol last week with the lad and I think that's definitely worth the watch too.

Ok, this one makes me drool with anticipation - it's astounding.

Good news here from the Peter Jackson front, it turns out the rumored delay from last week is not true and the film will be released on schedule - W00T~!
"Nothing has changed as far as I am concerned. Somebody wrote something on the internet and a lot of nonsense happened. You don't want to believe everything you read on the internet. We were due to deliver the scripts and be shooting sometime around April and now I think I said in an interview we were shooting in June. And somehow people are now saying the film is delayed. As far as I am aware, they are not delayed at all. I am not even sure when we are going to start shooting… we are delivering the scripts just after Christmas. They'll be finished and we'll be shooting as soon as we possibly can. But you need a certain amount of time to finish the pre-production."

I almost can't believe it... but then again nothing completely surprises me when it comes to Hollywood churning out an endless line of remakes.
A film adaptation of classic TV cartoon Yogi Bear, featuring singer Justin Timberlake and Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd, has begun filming in New Zealand.
The film was a CGI/live action hybrid being shot in 3D, with Aykroyd and Timberlake as the voices of Yogi and Booboo, 3News reported.
Somehow I doubt even Aykroyd can make this one work....

Arrrrrghhhh! I dunno exactly why - script issues they say .... oh well, I guess 3-4 months delay is better than not making it at all.

I know, "another Jackass Movie?" - and in 3D ? Great, I can only imagine how Johnny Knoxvilles (insert body part here) will look.

In 1977, just prior to returning to the role of James T. Kirk for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Shatner took on an army of furry, poisonous villains in Kingdom of the Spiders. The movie is genuinely creepy at times and might be too much for anyone genuinely afraid of spiders. And, for any PETA members out there, I find it very hard to believe that “no spiders were harmed in the making of this film.”
I actually remember this movie - and I recall it was creepy ( I'm no big fan of spiders )
Here's the trailer
- by RobThis movie was one of my favorites and this version sure has it all over the claymation for special effects -
though I don't know about the plot or acting, I kinda have a bad feeling there - you decide.

If you're jonesing for news of the Hobbit - Jones no more! - This interview has pages of news and info on the production, art, progress, screenplay..... you name it.
The Hobbit begins shooting in late spring 2010 and will open in 2011.

The creation coming out of the Hobbit labs should be fantastic....
I think one of the designs I'm the proudest of is Smaug. Obviously he took the longest.
It's actually still active: we're finishing his colour palette and a little bit of the texture. But the bulk of the design took about a year, solid. It's because of the unique features of the dragon.
Early in production I came up with a very strong idea that would separate Smaug from every other dragon ever made. The problem was implementing that idea. But I think we've nailed it.

Right - this stuffs gone way too far, I only saw one video game -> movie that was remotely cool (Doom) the rest of 'em sucked in various degrees.
20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to Electronic Arts’ “Spore” video game to create a CG animated feature.
Chris Wedge, who directed “Ice Age” and “Robots” for the studio, is attached to direct while writers Greg Erb and Jason Oremland are writing the screenplay.
Ugh.

Today's Close Encounter movie is way cooler than yesterdays. Tho that scene where that guy was trying to recreate a mountian in his mashed potatoes... that was cool.
I tried that a couple times while I was eating out but no one got it and I just looked like an idiot.
Oh well... - cool movie coming here.

I had no idea Michael Bay was redoing this flick - the trailer looks kinda cool, it just might be a good movie.

some rather large buzz out there about this new flick, it's only in a limited number of theatres screening right now but if it hits the big time and comes around, AND if you're a horror movie fan - it might be a must see.
There's a trailer of sorts HERE
I can say that it's a film that ratchets up the tension throughout, slowly building to one enormous scare that had ninety-percent of the Music Box crowd in screams. The conclusion was easily the most tense moment I have ever spent in a movie theater. And as I right this, I'm getting chills all over again. It's just that effective.

- by RobAfterwards, hundreds of viewers stuck around outside the theater, some physically shaking. One young woman broke out in tears when I asked her how she was feeling. The crowd was mixed into two camps - hardcore horror fans debating the success of director Oren Peli and his $15,000 budget film, and people looking to each other for therapy, reminding each other that none of this stuff happens in real life. Or does it?
