Many years ago I discovered the albums of Jon Anderson (of Yes) and Vangelis (Chariots of fire) - and recently I found a pile of them on You Tube. If you've never heard any of these, then sit back and enjoy.
This one's completely new to me
I also found my all time favorite The Friends of Mr. Cairo

Great Scott - how did I miss this? Asia has released a new album called Omega. I've only heard a few tracks so far so I can't really give my opinion yet...
For the first time since the debut album, ASIA worked with an outside producer, Mike Paxman (Uriah Heep, Status Quo) who managed to create a truly special sounding album with the highs, lows and lots of dynamics. He helped the band to put together a tapestry of sound, which demonstrates the rich strata of Asia's music. Paxman was able to achieve this through the songs which spun real stories of actual events and experiences in locations around the globe. “The songs always have a message, hopefully positive,” says Wetton. “My songs are almost always autobiographical, so there is hope and experience in there, too. The lyric will never leave you on a negative thought. “
Here's the first single

However you end up using this - maybe for a rhythm while strumming the guitar, something to sing along to - maybe annoy your co workers ... It's a cool simple drum machine with decent samples that is free and online. Nice!
- by RobMonkey Machine features:
* High quality drum samples provided by Natural Studio.
* Sample accurate timing.
* Online beat database.
* Tap tempo.
* Variable time signatures.

I suppose there's people out there that still want their albums in the retro style (heck, up until two years ago I still had 8 tracks and a working player) ... so for those of you about to rock with 33 1/3rd I salute you.

W00T - thanks Osh - it's been way too long since I heard from the Oz man....
Ozzy Osbourne will release Scream, his first album in almost three years. It will mark his tenth studio album. Scream will be released on June 15, 2010 on Epic Records. The album is produced by Osbourne and Kevin Churko, the same duo responsible for his 2007 worldwide platinum-selling Black Rain.
The album's first single will be "Let Me Hear You Scream," which will have its world premiere, during a prison riot scene, tonight, Wednesday, April 14 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on CSI: NY, on the CBS Television Network. The song also arrives at radio today.
Sharon!
- by RobThis'll get you ready for the weekend with style!
- by RobAs if this video wasn't weird enough to begin with...
- by RobI like this version even better than the original - am I getting old?

This guy has a page that will help you build your own speakers from scratch. You're gonna need some woodworking tools and skills, some basic electronics and soldering knowledge too.
If you have that - go at it. I've done this before and I have to say you can build some ultra awesome speakers for a hella lot less than you'd pay for the same performance.

Course their website looks like it hasn't been updated since 1995 - but I've heard dome bits of the new album and it sounds ok.
You can get some previews of their new album at the link.
btw thanks to Laura for the tip.

Osh tipped me off to this news - apparently Mr. Loaf is about to release #4 - and he will do anything for music...
but not that.
- by RobHis new album, Hang Cool Teddy Bear, whose title was taken from a line in Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, is 13 tracks of classic Meat Loaf, primed and ready for the 21st century. More than four decades into his career, the man and his voice are as big, bold and relevant as ever. The album features a hot producer, a slew of impressive guest appearances, ranging from guitar god Steve Vai to actor Hugh Laurie, and of course, Meat Loaf's signature pipes!

And you thought bittorent was the only way to get music ? Oh noes,
this site is full of tunes - from old timey piano roll music right on up to electronic.
We surpassed the 18,000 mp3 milestone this week. That's nearly 4 times as much free quality audio as when we launched the FMA less than a year ago
- by RobThanks to Osh for pointing this out - looks freaking cool! I mean they got Ozzy.
- by RobA peak behind the making of Slash's self-titled album, featuring Fergie, Ozzy Osbourne, Andrew Stockdale (of Wolfmother), Kid Rock, Ian Astbury, Myles Kennedy, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), Lemmy Kilmeister (Motorhead), Dave Grohl, Duff McKagan, M Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold), Rocco DeLuca, Cypress Hill and Iggy Pop. Slash hits stores April 6, 2010.
Thanks Blaze, I actually avoided it until you sent the link then I watched it and wow - They got another super viral hit with geek flair on this one.
- by RobLink: http://radiotuna.com/
Check it....
We thought searching radio should be easier (we like easy stuff), and we also felt we were missing out on great stations, so we built RadioTuna. We imagined how a radio search engine should work and set about creating it. The result turned out to be quite a lot less easy to build than we’d imagined, but it is the site that we were always looking for. It turns out we were right - we had been missing out on lots of great stations!
Awesome - now tune in, turn off and um, tuna fish? ![]()

Another stupid move by a record company. They don't think that hearing a song for free gives them anything.... perhaps they missed the last 40 years of Radio Play = Album sales ... and Radio is what? Free.
Good riddance Warner, I'm sure that this won't inspire more people to just pirate the music.

If you're anywhere and needing a some new tunes... maybe the playlist you brought has gotten stale?... this fixes everything.

Link: http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2010/01/mark-mothersbaugh-talks-new-devo-album.html
I'm happily looking forward to this one,
Devo is currently finishing its first album of new music since 1990’s Smooth Noodle Maps. “It’s got quite a bit of form, and unless we were to all of a sudden have an about-face, we’ve got it pretty much 90 percent or more nailed down,” Mothersbaugh tells Paste. “We kind of did some bold things with this record. You talk about what’s changed in Devo over the last 30 years—I think something that’s changed is a somewhat more sophisticated approach to music and different tools that allow us to voice ourselves in ways that we didn’t do back in the day.”
Oh please don't be using Autotune - that's my only request.
