Sometime soon you (if you want) will be able to let Facbook plot your every move using your GPS enabled smartphone. Personally I don't think this is a good idea for so many reasons. I mean besides the obvious - (being robbed while your out of the house), there's plenty of other times when you don't want eveyone to know exactly where you are.

Still, you know a bunch of people will turn it on not even thinking of the consequences, then call in sick to work and get fired cus their boss finds out they are at the beach all day.

Sigh.

Or - how to use the linkbait generator to have some fun.

First off there are many reasons to fear your pooper ... I'll just go so far as -

1 - Nuclear chicken wings (the next day)

2 - Beer, brocoli, and chili dinners.

3 - Well, there's that idea you had of braiding the hair.......

4 - dingleberries of terror?

Anyway - I got the title from the linkbait generator - you know what link bait is right? It's all those things you click on that go like "8 ways the CIA could help you survive a zombie outbreak" (yeah thats one of theirs.

You'll get clicks alright. - Nicely done ... use at your own risk.

Link: http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2010/03/01/chrome-gains-more-market-share

All the other browsers took a hit and Chrome gained slightly - is this a glimpse of things to come? Probably.

Net Applications found that Chrome managed to attract more than a few new users, however, increasing its market share by 0.39 percent on a month-over-month basis.

The fact that Chrome beat all of its competitors (at least at least with respect to short-term changes) is quite impressive. The small surge in popularity it experienced wouldn't exactly qualify as embarrassing under other circumstances, either, even if 0.39 percent isn't an overwhelming amount.

As if we didn't have enough distractions already - you now do not need to be logged into Facebook to annoy other Facebook users.

You may now integrate the Facebook chat in any of your favorite instant chat messenger you use and stay connected with your friends even off the Facebook page. All this has been made possible by the implementation of the Jabber XMPP protocol, an open messaging protocol that is supported by most instant messaging softwares, including iChat, Pidgin, Adium, Miranda and Google Talk as well.

I don't know if this is in retaliation for the rumored "Facebook to install webmail" thing but I'd say it's probably a safe bet.

Do we all need to update our status in email? Come on.

We learned earlier today that Google is launching a social status update feature in Gmail. While details are sparse, The Wall Street Journal reports that it is a new Gmail module that could integrate status updates as well as content from YouTube, Picasa and potentially other social sources. WSJ is unclear as to when it will launch, though.

Facebook confirmed to us that the redesign is already rolling out to users. Everyone will get access to the new homepage shortly, and Facebook plans to post an update to its blog announcing the changes later today.

The pics show a much larger and more prominently placed search bar, which is just another example of how Facebook means business with search.

Facebook added real-time search features several months ago, and many of its recent privacy changes were made in the hopes that users would make some of their updates public so others could search for information just like they already do on Twitter and some other networks.

Many of the items (like groups and events) that were kept in the Applications menu in the bottom left have been moved back to the left sidebar on the main page. Rather than taking you to a new page, these now open within the main window where the feed usually appears.

That and more - did you get the new updates yet? If not you will soon.

It's like AOL has an unlimited amount of bad ideas to use before admitting they should just close shop. Here's another along those lines.

The company has acquired StudioNow, an online platform for video creation and distribution for $36.5 million in cash and stock.

Like YouTube, AOL is eyeing online videos, especially original programming, as a way to boost its bottom line, especially from advertising.

Nothing to see here .... move along.

OK - Here's the deal in plain English. I love to design and create just about all of the effects you see here, I'm just not a very good web site designer - trust me, I've been told this more than once. So . . . unless you have a great deal of spare time on your hands to learn (and $BUY$) another dozen, or so, software programs that you may not use all too often, let me sub-contract your piecework.

Another Internet Meme gone real world.....

Boucher said an online campaign will be launched featuring local business officials and celebrities wearing the shirt. The Business Resource Center also plans to give Three Wolf Moon shirts to winners of its monthly "Innovation Rocks!" initiative, which recognizes the ingenuity of New Hampshire's innovation leaders.

Boucher said that regardless of the truth of the claims of mystical properties possessed by the shirt, he's optimistic about the effect it will have on New Hampshire's economy.

I guess no one told them it's kind of an insulting meme - eh, what the heck - maybe they know it and are just having some good fun. - If so good for them.

Sons of bitches... they sat on this and only when massive harm was caused did they do anything.....

Microsoft today admitted it knew of the Internet Explorer flaw used in the attacks against Google and Adobe since September last year.

The flaw was in the Microsoft Security Response Center’s (MSRC) queue to be fixed in the the next batch of patches due in February but the targeted zero-day attacks against U.S. companies forced the company to release an emergency, out-of-band IE update.

Something you can say about Firefox and Chrome, they address issues promptly....

Gimli " we could use IE8 and it would give us a royal welcome"

Gandalf " No Gimli, I would not use IE8 unless I had no other choice"

That's the big question, I say no ... I'd rather use my Netflix account ... Google's taking a gamble that folks will pony up the cash.

YouTube is partnering with the Sundance Film Festival and filmmakers to charge users around $5 to view a range of movies from the 2009 and 2010 festivals. It's still cheaper than a movie ticket - but is this a direction users will follow?

I dunno - Sundance? I'm curious to see the stats.

They're calling it spring cleaning - but there's more than that. You can vote too on what you'd like changed.

What will this mean to you? Well, it means you'll see some things about the site design evolving to be more consistent across the site. And some things that haven't worked as smoothly as we would have liked them to will get the attention they deserve. Lastly, we may determine that some things we tried out just didn't fly and remove them from the site.

We'll be using a number of inputs to build our "to do" list: usage data that shows the things you use the most versus things that very few people use; usability testing that can help us understand what's broken that needs fixing; and, last but not least, we'd like to hear from you directly...

Well, it's not quite as cool as originally thought, but you now can store some of your important stuff in the cloud for backup.

It’s not a separate service like once thought though — it’s simply launching as part of Google Docs.

Over the next few weeks, the file type restriction is being lifted on Google Docs, so you can now upload files of any type. There is currently no way to map your Google Docs as a network drive on your PC, but I’m guessing that isn’t going to be far behind. If Google doesn’t do it, someone will.

Looks like all that hype that Microsoft threw at us has worn off and people have gone back to the search engine that they are most familiar with. ( or the one that returns the best results I don't know which ).

Of the big three — Google, Yahoo and Bing — Google saw an increase in search share, while both Yahoo and Bing faltered.

Comparing December’s data with some of the measurements from past months seems to indicate that Bing’s marketshare surge was just temporary.
