J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved Lord of the Rings series brought to life in the movies, then you will definitely want to look through our collection of wallpapers, icon packs, and fonts.

Remember - one does not simply install the font of Mordor :P

Lifehacker has the goods for all of you that want to see Hulu but are barred from viewing simply because of your geographical location.

This method should allow access not just to Hulu, but many other US-only streaming sites. Note that this may disable Flash on other sites, so you'll only want to enable this while you're watching video on one of these sites.

In one of the creepier new toy developments, there is now Magnetic Thinking Putty on the market. It costs $13.50 and is like classic silly putty, except that it is magnetic and somewhat unnerving. The above video features time-lapse footage of the putty slowly devouring a magnet.

July 24, 1985. That’s the date the Amiga 1000 was first introduced, and to celebrate its 25th anniversary Benj Edwards of Vintage Computing and Gaming has taken a peek inside the machine for PC World.

Ahhhh the good old days - nice nostalgia post.

Very cool!

The SCI-FI AIR SHOW’s purpose is to preserve and promote the rich and varied history of Sci-Fi/fantasy vehicles. Through display and education we seek to celebrate the classic design and beauty of these ships and the rich imaginations that created them. When the cameras stopped rolling, many of these proud old ships were lost and forgotten. Please join us in working to keep these rare and beautiful birds soaring!

My favorite ? The Eagle from Space 1999

A command line on the web you say ? Time for all you command line gear heads to go nuts.

The Google command line, called GoogleCL for short, gives advanced users the capability to streamline functions such as uploading a folder full of photos to Picasa, posting an entry to a Blogger blog, editing a document on Google Docs or adding events to your Google calendar. Google services supported through GoogleCL include Blogger, Calendar, Contacts, Docs, Picasa and even YouTube.

Pretty in-depth project here, but if you've got some time and the want - you can build a hella nice dehydrator with scavenged parts.

While this version certainly doesn't look pretty (which makes sense, since all the parts from the city dump), it's pretty involved—from the on/off switch with an indicator light to the high number of shelves, it's a pretty full-featured dehydrator. Hit the link to check out the full instructions, and let us know your favorite appliance repurposing tips in the comments.

Link: http://www.csscompressor.com

This massively handy website will take a huge CSS file and compress the heck out of it. Featuring 4 levels of compression, it can shave a goodly amount of size off any CSS file thereby making your site load and respond faster. One note though, keep a copy of the non compressed one to work with - it also strips out all comments and spaces... working with the CSS in that state is rather difficult even if you're very familiar with the code.

Here's a lot more on the css conditional comments I wrote on last week. Pro-Tip - put these AFTER your regular css link.

If you want to use a specific external StyleSheet file for IE6 users to work around CSS display/rendering bugs in IE6, then you need to perform some form of browser detection, detect that the user is using Internet Explorer 6 then use that particular IE6 only stylesheet, while not serving it to other more standards compliant browsers such as Safari or Firefox.

Link: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/19141/clone-a-hard-drive-using-an-ubuntu-live-cd/

Need to dupe a hard drive? Maybe upgrading your laptop to a bigger / faster drive? Well, turns out you can use Ubuntu Live to do the job - and it's free of course.

be aware tho , this isn't for noobs.

dd gets a bad rap, because like many other Linux utilities, if misused it can be very destructive. If you’re not sure what you’re doing, you can easily wipe out an entire hard drive, in an unrecoverable way.

However for rescuing files or data dd can save your butt.

Unlike other utilities, dd copies absolutely everything from one drive to another – that means that you can even recover files deleted from the original drive in the clone!
