What is with the way teams are playing preseason games this year? I've never seen so many injuries and who keeps the QB in so long in the first preseason game? In the clip below Eli Manning gets knocked into next week and then some.

Ouch - heard it was a 3 inch gash that needed stitches.

It's getting close to that time of year again ! I'm not sure what to think of this news....

the NFL is in discussions with German-based Cairos Technologies which has a solution that involves placing a chip inside the football. The chip would be able to definitively determine whether or not a ball has crossed a predetermined point such as a first down marker or the end zone.

Breaking years of tradition the NFL picks a cold weather state for the big game....

The NFL will have its first-ever, cold-weather Super Bowl, as New York/New Jersey today was awarded the league's 2014 championship game.

The decision was announced from the NFL owners' spring meeting in Dallas. Tampa Bay and South Florida were the other bidders.

New York/New Jersey won on the fourth ballot, receiving a simple majority of the 32 votes. As the lowest vote-getter, South Florida was eliminated after the second vote.

Woah, this will make things interesting for sure.

The football follies are fun for everyone- ok, everyone that likes football at least. And I was surprised to find a whole ton of 'em on Hulu. If you're looking for something to go with your coffee and frosted sugar bombs this morning - you could do a lot worse than this.

While that might not sound like a ringing endorsement - it's all I've got as I'm still not fully awake after playing the Beatles rock band last night (which is awesome)

oh yeah and it was tough playing the game as the whole time I could not go to the bathroom.

That's right, there is no John....

I apologize to Beatles fans everywhere - tip your waiters, I'll be here all week. [lol]

It's spring, trades and drafts are done...and the teams are in practice. How does your team look for the upcoming season? Here's a shocker - the Pats aren't even predicted for the playoffs.

So before I go out this morning, let me embarrass myself by ranking the NFL one through 32. That's not being overly modest -- just realistic. I stink at this. In fact, my recommendation if you really want to find out what's going to happen in the NFL this year is to take a bye on this column. Last year, I really distinguished myself. Picked the Bears to make the Super Bowl. Picked the Saints 24th in the league, which was a point of some contention all season, right up to the moment 30 minutes after the Saints won the Super Bowl and Sean Payton walked up to his podium to meet the press after the game, saw me, and said: "Not bad for number 24.''

If you are a football fan and have Verizon you're gonna be happy.

Verizon's new service will be live in time to offer coverage of the NFL Draft on April 22-24. Subscribers will be able to watch NFL games live on Sunday and Thursday night, and will have access to live radio broadcasts of every regular season and playoff game from both home and away teams.

Awesome - I don't have any word on pricing yet though.

I'll tell you my call - I thought the commercials were less than spectacular this year, and again Godady plays the tired old Dana Patrick card. Enough with the T and A ads Godaddy.

Another theme this year - commercials where men are jerks - case in point the Dodge Charger ad....

The game however was better than I thought so I guess it all works out in the end, - and this picture sums it all up.

According to AdAge, Budweiser is this year’s biggest advertiser — privy to five minutes of air time. The beer company launched its social media campaign on Friday, and already thousands of people are taking part. The idea, essentially, is to infiltrate every level of Facebook (Facebook). First, you might see the targeted ad for the campaign in your newsstream (see the photo above). If you are so inclined to vote, you must first become a fan of the beer:

That's a bit tough to swallow eh? - I'll not become a fan of Budweiser - but their commercials are usually great.

And you realize anything you tag or associate with the NFL becomes the property of the NFL? So that picture you took and tagged, good luck posting that on your web site. The NFL lawyers will come swooping in claiming copyright infringement, hit you with some cease and desist orders and then sue you for trademark infringement.

If you needed help on how to include bacon to the big game - look no further!

8. The Original Bacon Explosion BBQ Sausage Roll - Have you had a heart attack lately?

Is your girlfriend's first name Angie, last name Plasty?

Are you comfortable with the idea of watching the Super Bowl on the TV set in the ER?

22 are at least probable.....

(something to keep you busy until the big game)

On the eve of Super Bowl XLIV Media Day, let's take a quick look at all of the storylines that are likely to surface down in Miami; all 44 of them, to be exact.

5. Bounty Bowl II?: The Saints haven't been shy when reflecting on their treatment of quarterback Brett Favre in the NFC championship. Several fines were dished out to the defensive players and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams even made comments that insinuated the game plan was to knock Favre from the game. Obviously, you can expect them to employ similar strategies against Manning. Of course, Manning rarely takes a big hit. He seems to always sniff out the sacks before they happen and go down on his own. Thus, it will be a chess match within a chess match.

Before you get too excited - you won't be seeing this weeks game.... BUT you can see a bunch of NFL network stuff and that in itself is pretty darn cool.

- America’s Game: The Super Bowl Champions: Documentary series on the journey to the big game.

- Hard Knocks: Popular training camp reality show.

- Greatest Games: 90-minute show on some of the NFL’s most famous and historical games.

- Game of the Week: The NFL picks a few of the top games from the week and re-airs them with all of the gaps and waiting around edited out. There are over 70 episodes up now on Hulu.

- Live Wire: A weekly NFL recap show.

- Season in Review: Yes, it’s a review of the last season’s big events.

- Sounds of the Game: The NFL Network mics up players and coaches and turns that into a surprisingly awesome show.

- Super Bowl Highlights: Exactly as it sounds.

Actually it's darn close to awesome.

That 11 minutes sure didn't help the Cowboys this Sunday.....

According to a Wall Street Journal study of four recent broadcasts, and similar estimates by researchers, the average amount of time the ball is in play on the field during an NFL game is about 11 minutes.

In other words, if you tally up everything that happens between the time the ball is snapped and the play is whistled dead by the officials, there's barely enough time to prepare a hard-boiled egg. In fact, the average telecast devotes 56% more time to showing replays.

I4U has all the goods on the tech and commercials for this years big game.

Super Bowl 2010 will be held in Florida a record breaking 10th time on February 7th 2010.
Super Bowl XLIV will be for the first time only broadcasted digitally. Like last year we will feature our Super Bowl for Geeks Guide also for the Super Bowl 2010. Despite the shaky economy there will be lots of fun commercials and outrageous ads again at the Super Bowl 2010. CBS has basically sold out the Super Bowl 2010 ad spots and the first news about the advertisers are already flowing in.

Way to go guys - thanks!

For the second season in a row, the NFL is set to knock your collective socks off with 4 selectable camera angles, Hi-Def, a new Player ...

The video player, the highest quality yet, will include full DVR functionality allowing the user to pause and scroll back-and-forth – even review plays in "slo-mo" -- all while watching live video.

Games will be divided between NBC and the NFL site , though I assume you'll be able to watch either using THIS URL

From the this is not news department -

The NFL said that it will let players, coaches, and other team personnel engage in social networking during the season. However, they will be prohibited from using Twitter and from updating profiles on Facebook and other social-networking sites during games.

That said - T.O. lovers and haters everywhere breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Thanks to a hook-up with the Weather Channel, players who have their consoles connected to the internet will have the option to play under the conditions which are currently happening in the real world in the chosen stadium.

Perhaps more usefully, the game also draws on three years of meteorological data so that play during a season mode will better reflect the likelihood of particular conditions at a venue given the fictional point in the season. Visit Green Bay during the play-offs and you’ve got a fair chance of snow, while wind is more of a major factor at Soldier Field, to the detriment of field goal kickers.

So if you needed an extra incentive to grab the game this just might be it.

Heh, that didn't take long....

and TO is getting his own reality show to boot -

the official VH1 news release says Owens is "a quiet, sensitive, mild-mannered guy from Alexander City, Alabama … that's Terrell."

Of course he is. That's why the entertainment network is doing a reality show with Owens -- because nothing attracts TV viewers like mild-mannered Alabamians.

Heh - we Dallas fans feel for you guys - really we do.... :1:
