If you are a football fan and have Verizon you're gonna be happy.

Verizon's new service will be live in time to offer coverage of the NFL Draft on April 22-24. Subscribers will be able to watch NFL games live on Sunday and Thursday night, and will have access to live radio broadcasts of every regular season and playoff game from both home and away teams.

Awesome - I don't have any word on pricing yet though.

I'll tell you my call - I thought the commercials were less than spectacular this year, and again Godady plays the tired old Dana Patrick card. Enough with the T and A ads Godaddy.

Another theme this year - commercials where men are jerks - case in point the Dodge Charger ad....

The game however was better than I thought so I guess it all works out in the end, - and this picture sums it all up.

According to AdAge, Budweiser is this year’s biggest advertiser — privy to five minutes of air time. The beer company launched its social media campaign on Friday, and already thousands of people are taking part. The idea, essentially, is to infiltrate every level of Facebook (Facebook). The NFL is looking for stuff for their live site.

The NFL is highlighting the user-tagged Super Bowl content on its new Tag the Super Bowl site, which offers a visually stimulating and unfiltered interactive view of tweets and images that football fans are sharing on Twitter and Flickr with the #SB44 hashtag.

I know, I know, I'm getting you all psyched up for the Superbowl commercials aren't I? -By the way - tonight at 8pm there's a show called "the greatest Superbowl commercials" ...

I dunno what network but it'll keep you going for a bit.

On the eve of Super Bowl XLIV Media Day, let's take a quick look at all of the storylines that are likely to surface down in Miami; all 44 of them, to be exact.

5. Bounty Bowl II?: The Saints haven't been shy when reflecting on their treatment of quarterback Brett Favre in the NFC championship. Several fines were dished out to the defensive players and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams even made comments that insinuated the game plan was to knock Favre from the game. Obviously, you can expect them to employ similar strategies against Manning. Of course, Manning rarely takes a big hit. He seems to always sniff out the sacks before they happen and go down on his own. Thus, it will be a chess match within a chess match.

That 11 minutes sure didn't help the Cowboys this Sunday.....

According to a Wall Street Journal study of four recent broadcasts, and similar estimates by researchers, the average amount of time the ball is in play on the field during an NFL game is about 11 minutes.

In other words, if you tally up everything that happens between the time the ball is snapped and the play is whistled dead by the officials, there's barely enough time to prepare a hard-boiled egg. In fact, the average telecast devotes 56% more time to showing replays.

Super Bowl 2010 will be held in Florida a record breaking 10th time on February 7th 2010.
Super Bowl XLIV will be for the first time only broadcasted digitally. Like last year we will feature our Super Bowl for Geeks Guide also for the Super Bowl 2010. Despite the shaky economy there will be lots of fun commercials and outrageous ads again at the Super Bowl 2010. CBS has basically sold out the Super Bowl 2010 ad spots and the first news about the advertisers are already flowing in.

The video player, the highest quality yet, will include full DVR functionality allowing the user to pause and scroll back-and-forth – even review plays in "slo-mo" -- all while watching live video.

The NFL said that it will let players, coaches, and other team personnel engage in social networking during the season. However, they will be prohibited from using Twitter and from updating profiles on Facebook and other social-networking sites during games.

That said - T.O. lovers and haters everywhere breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Thanks to a hook-up with the Weather Channel, players who have their consoles connected to the internet will have the option to play under the conditions which are currently happening in the real world in the chosen stadium.

Perhaps more usefully, the game also draws on three years of meteorological data so that play during a season mode will better reflect the likelihood of particular conditions at a venue given the fictional point in the season. Visit Green Bay during the play-offs and you’ve got a fair chance of snow, while wind is more of a major factor at Soldier Field, to the detriment of field goal kickers.

So if you needed an extra incentive to grab the game this just might be it.

The 3D glasses you need to see the 3D action are distributed for free at SoBe displays in super markets. The list of shops where you will be able to find the Super Bowl 3D glasses include: Safeway/Vons, K-Mart, Ralphs, Kroger, A&P, Frys, Supervalu, Food Lion, Pathmark, Coburn, Fairway, Fresh Brands, Hy Vee, Nash Finch, Dollar General and Winnie Dixie.
Target and Meijers will have the 3D glasses only on January 31st.

Mind you these are yellow and blue - not red and green just in case you are building your own!
