Are you a bacon-trepreneur? If you can capitalize on the power of bacon - you too can be rich (and tasty)

Even restaurants are busy bringing on the grease: A recent study by the Chicago-based research firm Mintel found that menu items with bacon at both fast-food and full-service restaurants are up 26.5 percent since 2005.

"Why not?" says Justin Esch, one of the self-described "bacon-trepreneurs" behind Bacon Salt. "Bacon is the most powerful force in the world. It's not even a joke."

Bacon FTW!

I love this - it's right up there with my best misbehaving.

NBC has gone on the offensive and pulled the web clips of Conan O’Brien’s vengeful “Bugatti Veyron” sketch from Hulu and NBC.com. The move was made to avoid costly fees associated with Conan’s decision to play “Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones, for his own satisfaction.

The controversial $1.5 million comedy sketch begins with COCO taking pleasure in the fact that even though his show is about to go off air, “we can do whatever we want, and they [NBC] have to pay for it.”

You can see the sketch (while it lasts HERE)

Holy awesome - I watched this and was amazed! - Very well done!

Orcs are back... for all you lucky LOTR fans, today the next unofficial chapter is released, by our friends, Actors at Work Productions. You can see it online at www.bornofhope.com ! We're delighted that director Kate, who helped us a lot with THFG has finally finished her epic 70 minute, all-new LOTR prequel.

It tells the story of Aragorn's parents and so it's set around 75 years before The Hunt For Gollum in the Middle-earth timeline and is packed with even more Orcs, Rangers battles. A truly spectacular acheivement.

Watch it on You Tube HERE

And if you want to download it (as I surely did) you can use THIS

Link: http://www.wired.com/underwire/2010/01/star-wars-3d-retrofit/

It's looking more and more likely that these films will be in theaters in 3D. I dunno about Star Wars, but I'd definitely pony up some cash to see LOTR in 3D akin to Avatar.

“We can turn an older film into 3-D in around 16 weeks,” Bobby Jaffe, chairman of San Diego’s Legend Films, told the paper. “It mostly suits action films, such as Top Gun or The Matrix, but Avatar proved it’s best to use the technology to immerse the audience in the story rather than throw things at them. This is the new, more sophisticated era of 3-D.”

The process of converting 2-D films to 3-D, used recently with portions of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for its Imax release, is becoming increasingly popular as studios look for relatively inexpensive ways to boost revenue. The Times quoted an associate of George Lucas, saying the Star Wars director will spend $10 million to update his 1977 movie into 3-D.

What do I think about the beta?

Well, I installed the alpha and I didn't get too far - it was plagued by any number of issues. I suppose I could have dealt with 'em but the deal breaker for me was the Windows alpha didn't integrate with Netflix.

The Beta is worlds apart from the Alpha. Basically - It ROCKS.

Go get it and start having HTPC fun ... you'll find a whole 5 minute setup to get going and if you want to get fancy then expect to spend maybe 20.

** Bonus hint - go install some apps - specially Clicker.
